Flint Hills Volunteer Center Strategic Plan

The Ask: Create a strategic plan to increase and retain middle & high school age volunteers in the Manhattan area.

The Result: My team formulated a plan to increase volunteers by highlighting the storytelling, which is an integral aspect of  FHVC's brand. I served as Art Director for our team, overseeing the creatives for both our agency's brand and our client's.

My team researched the target audience to inform our strategy. We utilized surveys that were distributed throughout schools and community groups. Our plan consisted of a social media campaign, social media advertisements, flyers and school partnerships.

Taking what we'd learned from months of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, we made the most of Zoom meetings and delegating tasks between members. Our final presentation had to be moved to a Zoom format last minute, but my group adjusted and ended up being the campaign the client chose out of all classes.

I designed flyers to be posted around the Manhattan community. My team knew flyers weren't the most effective means of generating awareness for our target audience, but we also knew our client.

We knew our client consisted of three women with little exposure or experience with social media and technology. By including flyers in our plan, we presented something familiar and comfortable to our client, making the rest of our ideas more palatable.

We created social media templates in Canva, so our client could easily continue producing content for their platforms. We suggested the client hire a student from K-State as an unpaid social media intern to manage their social media.
