Hot Sauce
My brother has an affinity for spicy things, so naturally he has always loved hot sauce. That love turned into an obsession with peppers, and everything having to do with them. He grows them, breeds them (I didn't even know that was possible!), sells them, and makes his own hot sauce with them. One year for Christmas I decided to create a label for one of his sauces, and I haven't stopped since.
The first label is for a hot sauce made with Carolina Reaper peppers. My brother named his hot sauce "Don't Fear the Reaper", so I decided to illustrate a grim reaper as the main focal point for the label. I used the colors red and orange to reflect the fiery heat of the peppers.
The next label I designed was for a hot sauce that included chocolate habanero peppers. My brother named this sauce "Xocoatl" which means 'chocolate' in the Aztec language.
In my design, I created an Aztec god of chocolate and included the habanero pepper in the figure's right hand. I then created a spiral pattern around the figure to represent more of the culture.
